Intercollegiate Studies Institute Names Sean McMeekin’s History of Communism Winner of Its Prestigious 2025 Conservative Book of the Year Award

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), an organization dedicated to educating college students in core conservative principles, named Sean McMeekin the winner of the 2025 Conservative Book of the Year Award for his book To Overthrow the World: The Rise and Fall and Rise of Communism (Basic Books).
This annual award honors a book for making a significant contribution to conservative thought and discourse. A panel of judges selected To Overthrow the World from among four outstanding finalists.
Sean McMeekin will be honored at ISI’s Conservative Book of the Year Award reception and ceremony, where he will receive the Professor Henry and Commendatore Anne Paolucci Book Award and a cash prize. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 19, in the Linda L. Bean Center at ISI’s headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.
John A. Burtka IV, president and CEO of ISI, remarked: “McMeekin’s book is a powerful chronicle of the bloodshed and cultural waste brought on by the pernicious lies of Communism in the last century-and an urgent reminder to reject false and godless ideologies at all times.”
